I have been looking around for a place to create forms for our website and came upon yours. I am thrilled with the customization possibilities of your forms and the look that is created when complete. The only thing I would change would be the ability to have two columns if possible (first and last name right next to each other, etc.) just a way to compress the size of it if space becomes an issue for some.
That's a small issue and I thank you very much for a great service!

Hi Becky,
There are two ways to change a form title:
1. Click on the title on the form builder. It will become editable and you can change it right there and click save.
2. You can also change it from "Form Properties". Click Properties icon on the form builder and you will see the form properties on the right side.

How do I change the name of a form I created?

I created a form and could not figure out how to change the name. I made a clone of the form thinking that I could change the name then, but I still could not figure this out.

This is a phish site aimed at stealing accounts from Autotrader.com and appears to use JotForm to create it\'s form. I am a Security Engineer and identify phish sites, a couple hundred in the past year. Our gang is becoming more sophisticated so harder to detect. I\'ll have to research the Bayesian filter.

jrome: I couldn't have said it better:

"A symbiotic approach to sales, that is building in sales cycles based on increasing the value of the software to the active user base, is in my mind, how best to make a dime in these times and likely for the foreseeable future."

There are two important goals every web startup should have:
1. Increasing the user base
2. Increasing the value of the software for users

So, why not try to increase these two factors instead of trying to get as much as possible from a small user base. That's premature optimization.

This reminded me of a great Paul Graham quote. In fact, I found it:
"You can envision the wealth created by a startup as a rectangle, where one side is the number of users and the other is how much you improve their lives. The second dimension is the one you have most control over. And indeed, the growth in the first will be driven by how well you do in the second."

I like the way you stated a very key point to selling premium or freemium digital products: "Crippled products or trial versions are bad because one side on the relationship knows that the other side is only in it for the money and does not care about them." I've started many "trial versions" where I was in constant fear lest I forget to remind myself to turn off the auto-billing before the trial is up. That method works extremely well, as you write, for short term gains, but people are not going to renew or recommend a product that they paid for but don't use. It's those social recommendations that now market software to the masses, not million dollar ad campaigns. And once software is broadly adopted, usage should be the true measure of success. A symbiotic approach to sales, that is building in sales cycles based on increasing the value of the software to the active user base, is in my mind, how best to make a dime in these times and likely for the foreseeable future.

Hi Richard. Thanks for your interest. :)

We are also also still trying to define it ourselves. In fact, we came up with this name just this morning. We wanted to give a name for 4 or 5 ideas we have been thinking about and applying on JotForm v3. One of them is "Your Homepage Should be The Application":
http://atank.interlogy.com/blog/2007/03/your-homepage-should-be-the-application/

I'll be posting more details and the full list in the coming weeks. JotForm 3.0 will contain all aspects of Lean Web Apps, so that will probably be the best example.

That is not fair:)

You tweak my interest in this blog post but then don\'t define what you mean by Lean Web Applications.

I await you next post with baited breath.

Btw I agree with you - Web apps have one - you can now build very nice web apps that look, feel and peform like desktop apps. The only problem is the amount of time it takes to build these apps using conventional tools.

Regards

You tweak my interest in this blog post but then don\’t define what you mean by Lean Web Applications.

I await you next post with baited breath.

Btw I agree with you – Web apps have one – you can now build very nice web apps that look, feel and peform like desktop apps. The only problem is the amount of time it takes to build these apps using conventional tools.

Yes, you can delete the from "Reports" section. There is a Delete button on each submission row. Click on that to delete that submission and any uploaded files on that form submission will also be cleared.

Hi Ali:
The link on my post supposed to open iTunes and install the Jotform iPhone app on your computer. If the link does not work on your computer here is another way to install it:
1. On you iPhone, launch "App Store" app
2. Click on "Search" tab at the bottom
3. Search form "JotForm"
4. Click on FREE button to install it. You might need to click twice sometimes. I am always confused about that button.

I love jotform fomat. The first time I was introduced to it, I love the fact that everything was right at my fingertip - basic app interface. I've told other web designers to check out your form builder, some claimed they used other sites to build their form but after testing jotform, they were hooked. Thanks for the great Web App and slimmed down interface.

Pretty awesome with the membership site would work for a new project we have. Love the jotform for our site but was wondering how I would submit dynamic fields like what page the person is on or something like that if I have the %EXAMPLETAG% for it already.

A note to others... make sure you copy your comment before submitting in case your captcha is wrong =X

I have studied your website and the advices you are giving with great interest. It is strange that so many web gurus focus on the same basic points and since 347.000 sites pop up on Google when you look for profitable websites it must be very difficult for potential clients to make a decision; who is the best for my company? However it is easier to understand the next steps to be taken once the website is in place and properly running in the search engines. With all the technical tools including programs and software it seems an easy game, but for sure it is not. One important question is to make both existing customers as well as potential prospects aware of the importance to use the best marketing tool available today; Online Marketing that will ensure a high ROI. The best way to get started is to pull your network and talk to the closets businesses that all come at a low cost. Display on the Internet alone will not do the trick.

I was thrilled to see the new file uploader but now, when testing, do not know where to retrieve the file. I assumed it would be attached with the form submission email or, perhaps online somewhere. Can you help? (I've asked this on the Forum but have not received a response.)

Yes, sorry. I messed up our email server this morning. It should be working properly now.

The e-mails should also come (little late) since they are not lost, they are still in the mail queue.

Thanks for your patience.

My forms stopped working on 27th - today - data hits the data base but no email notification is being sent out. Did not realise straight away and have lost three orders from this morning.

Have logged three complaints and got nothing back. What is going on please?

Folks,

Thanks for the great job with JotForm. I use it almost every day. One quick bug (not sure if you get notified with forum post updates). The emails on jotform has stopped working! Please have someone take a look at it?

Thanks,

Jevon, add a "Text" field and a "checkbox" field to your form, and use the text field to put your disclaimer and checkbox to make sure people agree. You should make the checkbox field required from properties box on the right side.

We have been using your great site for applications to our programs with no problems at all. But I just cloned, edited, and renames a survey for a new application. For some reason even though it is email alert is enabled and our email addresses are entered to receive the alert for new submissions we are not getting the email alert for new submissions. Have you experienced this with others since the updates? Any suggestions for what I might be doing wrong?

Hi Rudy,
If you would like to see any new features, please feel free to let us know. We have an evolving list of things to do so, we would rather not make any promises at this point. Even we don't know what will the next version will look like. We have some exciting stuff, we have some features that have been requested a lot on the forum and we will also work on improving existing features.

I just finished a data capture form (jotforms) I am still struggling with parts, the "Thank you" screen needs to close after a couple of seconds or it links to another part of the program. I'm sure it's my fault but I can't find it.

I think you left out the most important feature of GMail: the +address

Say your address is JRandomHacker@gmail.com.

Now, you can ask your users to send e-mails to address like JRandomHacker+urgent@gmail.com, JRandomHacker+question@gmail.com, JRandomHacker+billing@gmail.com, and so on. And you will receive all of them just fine.

But because they are different addresses, you can set up rules for them: automatically add a tag, forward etc.

That simply rocks.

I love gmail for my personal mail.

But for my business I much prefer Relenta. Have you tried it? It's about as simple to use as a regular email program, but it has neat features like canned responses (with customer data like [NAME]), multiple departments (eliminates the multiple gmail accounts thing which sounds like a pain), etc...

I had to add to this conversation because I just finished working with the staff of memberkit.com on my site Dogsearcher.com and they are the BEST and the memberkit program is hands down the best I have ever seen or used. anyway I will be writing a testimonial in a couple of days so i do not want to rant on this here.

If you are on the edge about to buy or not, trust me as an experience webmaster.

HI,
I think this sounds terrific for people like myself. I run an art based nonprofit agency and am thinking of setting up a paid membership section of my program in order to bring in some revenue for my agency so I can continue the portrait series of domestic violence survivors. I am not a programmer although I can design graphics, write html and css. Is there a chance I could talk to someone about using my organization as a beta test site for this membership program in return for marketing for your business on my website, solid feedback from me and, maybe some inkind monetary exchange, i.e. portrait or artwork? I have a solid plan for this membership area that I know is one of a kind and will reach a lot of people. I should be able to bring in enough revenue after the first year to pay for your program. Feel free to call me at 480-785-4995.

Thanks,
Vickie

Good Day,
I am in need of your services and advice. I am a webdesigner that has a client interested in developing a membership site.

I have never built a membership site before.
I want to know if your software can do this (I can take care of the graphics and intro). I just need to know if the software has the features offered on the above membership site.

I also would like to know how much you would charge to do this. Depending on the price I can either outsource the site or pay you a premium to teach me how to do this.

Aytekin,
Does the current form builder allow for variable numbers to adjust the total at the end? For instance, if I have registrants signing up for a conference and there is an option to order 0-30 shirts at $5.00/shirt, is there a way for this form builder to total the amount, regardless of how many shirts each registrant may order, so that the paypal button will bill that totaled amount? Thank you!
